Not recommended, unless you go upstairs which is much, much better.

A while ago on a very foggy Sunday in late November me and my friend, Ghislaine, went to the Plume of Feathers near Maze Hill in Greenwich for a Sunday roast after I read that the place did nice versions, including a three meat roast which I was looking forward to.

I have to say that I throught their roast meal was really nice, I had the mixed roast which was around £14 and came with all the trimmings, as you can see to the left, including proper Yorkshires, and three different meats, of which the pork was the best – very yummy, the lamb was nice and the beef was about average. I would have prefered the roast potatoes to be a bit more crispy but I guess you could easily ask for that, and I didn’t.

The pub it’self has that old country feel about it, a decent welcome and good service and when it got busy more staff seemed to arrive, and it did get busy so if you plan on going for a roast like a lot of people did, you need to get there just after midday. All in all a good meal was had by both of us and you can see what my friend said about it here.

Recommended and next time I’ll go for the pork roast.

The search for a decent place to have a proper roast meal continues. Some notes to anybody who reads this from the pub, yes, everybody can have an off day, but when the broccoli comes out so hard that it can only just be cut by a knife with a lot of force, then something is worng. The chicken was dry according to one of my friends, my beef was ok, but a bit tough, the yorkshire puds looked like Aunt Bessies, and at 50p each for extras simply not worth it. The puddings looked ok, but for £4 each, should have been double the size. All in all, not a good experience and I won’t be going back, nor will any of my friends, for Sunday lunch, that’s for sure…

Simply avoid.

X Rebirth I have followed the series since about 2007 and it is full of great and interesting game play, open ended like the classic Elite of yesteryear and takes an age to complete ‘as such’ and you can build a huge empire. See more here.

Where as Mechwarrior died as a game many years ago, although there were some fan incarnations, but it still remains a firm favourite game of minedue to the hundreds, if not thousands of different combinations of mechs (big battle robots) you could create. See more here.

So that was my first week fully back at work after my bad hand break, it was an entertaining week, which came up with the usual problems and headaches, but some good times as well.

Some of the bad: Southeastern rail, what a complete shambles, firstly on Monday morning the last set of doors refused to open so everybody had to cram into the first set and squash themselves along to space where possible, then on Tuesday my 7.17pm train was just four carriages instead of the usual eight, so everybody was on severe tight fit. Finally, on Wednesday most of the Hayes trains were cancelled from Charing Cross so I had to go to London Bridge and wait for a Hayes train from there, which I and thousands of others had to do, which equal more squashing, but were cattle after all and not human beings. I also had a stinking cold and sore throat most of the week and OD’ed on Strepsils, although the strawberry flavor is very moreish. My mini Mel was also suffering and her shifts haven’t been kind on us, so we haven’t seen much of each other. Bad.

Some of the good: Work wasn’t too bad this week and my finger is improving all the time, additionally we got a major new client, as in Manchester City football club, plus a couple of others, so was a good win at work. Socially I got to see my lovely Mel on Friday evening after not seeing each other for a week and a half, which was cool and we had a nice meal together, plus Saturday afternoon was spend with little Rich, Matt and Chris watching the Liverpool vs Man United game which had the usual banter and dodgy decisions, afterwards we had a few drinks and played a bit of pool and Angela turned up and then me Matt and Angela went and had a really nice Chinese at Ginny’s Kitchen in Bromley. Matt and Angela also asked me to be godfather, which I obviously accepted. Very good. And so on to Sunday which is a little jaunt to Greenwich to see my friend Ghislaine for lunch, then to my parents to help my mum, the worlds most technophobe parent how to use a smartphone… This could be interesting…

Here’s to what next week brings!!!

So Friday and Saturday night I had two quite heavy sessions. Friday was probably the worst, watched the England game, where Rooney did his usual “i’m really a 4 year old child” and got himself sent off, for a needless kick out at a Montenegro player. So many beers were consumed and some shots with some of my work guys and I think a trip to the Ladywell Tavern happened as well, I think I got in just before midnight.

As for Saturday night, well it was Karl’s 30th Birthday so went to the Reliance pub on Old Street, which is quite quirky, nice and has a free jukebox, plus some quite nice beers, but anyway, got home at about 1am. I dread to think when the others got home.

Quite a fun two nights out, although my poor liver must be working overtime…

Here is a simple list of what I use on my phone. So here we go:

920 Text Editor – very useful editor for minor edits.

AndExplorer – explore all your internal and SD memory.

AndFTP – upload/download using this great FTP client.

Battery Indicator – simple, just gives you a percentage which is much more informative than a bar.

JuiceDefender – seems to add more battery life to your Android phone, recommended.

MortPlayer Music – like to keep your music in folders and random play those folders, plus so much more, brilliant, and you can also download widgets via a separate search for it’s widgets.

Random Factor Mahjong – one of my few games I have, and this one is brilliant for anybody who likes Mahjong. Truly random levels, 3 difficulty settings, preset levels and high scores. Can you beat my best: 47,030?

RockPlayer – simply will play any format of multimedia you throw at it, brilliantly too, highly recommended.

Shazam – like the music that’s in the background or on the radio that you don’t know, use this app to find out.

Skyfire – the best browser out there bar none. Huge amount of features, including the ability to tell the page your viewing that your on a desktop rather than a mobile so you get the full version.

Talking Tomcat – it’s silly, funny and stupid, but my g/f loves it and has even named it George. You can get the cat to repeat what you say in a silly voice, play with it, hit it etc. Some funny actions and full version is less than a quid.

Taptu – get your news on the subject you want from all the syndicates, highly customisable and lots of features.

ThickButtons – changes your keyboard on the fly to enlarge the keys it thinks your going to press. Actually works.

TweetDeck – now part of Twitter, this is the best twitter reader out there, plus you can post straight to twitter, facebook and foursquare at the same time.

Wi-Fi Finder – has the biggest database of both free and commercial Wi-Fi hotspots. Plus will give you a ‘radar’ or a list of these enabling you to see the strength (in percentage) of what is available to you.

Got get them all now…
